What Is a CNC Swiss-Type Lathe? Which Parts Are Produced?

A CNC Swiss-type lathe delivers high efficiency in the serial production of small, precision parts. We explain how it works and which parts it produces.

A CNC Swiss-type lathe (sliding head lathe) is a machine designed for the serial production of small-diameter, high-precision parts in particular. Because the workpiece slides along a guide bushing, it maintains high accuracy even on long, slender components.

How does it work?

The material is fed through a guide bushing located very close to the cutting point. This reduces vibration and holds tolerances at the micron level. Our Goodway SW-20 machine machines brass, steel and aluminum to a tolerance of ±0.01 mm.

Which parts are produced?

  • Membrane press pins and fasteners.
  • Brass/steel precision fasteners and shaft components.
  • Small metal components for serial production.
  • Custom contract parts made to your technical drawing.

The advantage of contract manufacturing

Without investing in your own machinery, you can have your precision parts produced under contract, from prototype through to serial production. Simply send us your technical drawing; we deliver speed and quality together.
