Manufacturing Scope

Joint and pivot elements are precision-turned connecting parts that carry the rotational, oscillating and angular motion of a mechanism. They work under load in automotive tie-rod and steering links, agricultural and construction machinery, hydraulic-pneumatic cylinder eyes, robotic arms and general machine joints. This category holds 7 families and 63 types: Rod End Pin, Ball Stud, Spherical Pin, Clevis Pin, Pivot Pin, Knurled Press-Pivot Pin and Double-Threaded Ball Pin. We machine steel, stainless steel, brass and aluminum; spherical surfaces and bearing diameters are typically held to h6/g6, mating bores to H7, and critical dimensions to about ±0.01 mm. Production is completed in a single operation on the Goodway SW-20 Swiss-type lathe across a ⌀1–20 mm bar range. Across 63 variants the operation mix is 30× thread turning, 4× hex flat milling, 8× axial bore, 8× taper turning, 9× knurling. Parts run 15–69 mm long; the longest, MAFA-RDP-12L at 69 mm, still finishes in a single setup.

Tolerances span 5 classes (6g, h6, h7, h8, h9) and 55 variants carry a DIN or ISO reference. The highest length-to-diameter ratio in the category belongs to MAFA-KPV-03 at L/D 6 — slender enough to need tailstock support on a conventional lathe.

We turn them from bar in a single operation on the Goodway SW-20 Swiss-type lathe. The spherical head and the stud body are machined in the same setup; threaded ends (e.g. M5–M12) and any knurl or chamfer are completed in the same cycle. The sliding-headstock design keeps runout low on slender, long geometries, which is ideal for pins and studs.
