In a membrane press, the pin plate is the carrier surface on which the pins are mounted and which holds the workpiece in the correct position. Though often overlooked, many pressing quality problems actually originate from a pin plate that has become deformed or lost its flatness.
What does the pin plate do?
The plate both holds the pins in place and distributes the pressure applied by the membrane evenly across the workpiece. If the plate loses its flatness, pressure becomes excessive in some areas and insufficient in others; the result is uneven gloss, blistering, or adhesion defects on the surface.
Why is flatness precision critical?
- Even pressure = homogeneous adhesion and a smooth surface
- Poor flatness = localized blistering, gloss variation, scrap
- High flatness also extends membrane service life
Wear symptoms and the solution
If the plate shows warping, surface wear, widening of the pin seats, or recurring pressing defects, it should be renewed. We remanufacture pin plates to the original dimensions and high flatness; when required, we produce a fully compatible replacement using your existing plate as a reference.
