Manufacturing Scope

Optical Post is a Opto-Mechanical Parts family precision-turned on a Goodway SW-20, covering 12 variants — diameters ⌀6–19.6 mm, lengths 18–103 mm, standard material Stainless Steel (also steel, stainless, brass or aluminium). The family is machined from ⌀20 mm bar stock; its longest variant is OPTB-PST-12 at 103 mm. Besides turning, the family requires thread turning (5 sizes from M4 to M10), hex flat milling (AF 7–17) and knurling. All of it is completed in a single setup, without the part leaving the machine.

The variant with the highest length-to-diameter ratio is OPTB-PST-12: 103 mm long at ⌀18 mm, L/D 5.7. This ratio is achievable on a conventional lathe as well; the sliding-head advantage in series work is that the part never leaves the machine, so the size does not drift from variant to variant.

Variants are machined to 6g tolerance; the smallest is OPTB-PST-02 (⌀6 mm) and the largest OPTB-PST-11 (⌀19.6 mm). The family includes threaded, hex-drive, knurled, multi-step variants. Custom sizes, tolerances or materials are produced to the part code on request.
