Optical Shaft is a Opto-Mechanical Parts family precision-turned on a Goodway SW-20, covering 12 variants — diameters ⌀3–16 mm, lengths 20–58 mm, standard material Stainless Steel (also steel, stainless, brass or aluminium). The family is machined from ⌀16 mm bar stock; its longest variant is OPTB-SHF-11 at 58 mm. Besides turning, the family requires thread turning (M5, M8). All of it is completed in a single setup, without the part leaving the machine.
The most slender variant is OPTB-SHF-01: 20 mm long at ⌀3 mm, a length-to-diameter ratio of 6.7. A part this slender needs tailstock support on a conventional lathe. On a sliding-head lathe the guide bushing holds the bar right next to the cutting edge, so the part is machined without a centre.
Variants are machined to h6, 6g tolerance classes; the smallest is OPTB-SHF-01 (⌀3 mm) and the largest OPTB-SHF-12 (⌀16 mm). The family includes threaded, multi-step variants. Custom sizes, tolerances or materials are produced to the part code on request.
