The family is machined from ⌀18 mm bar stock; its longest variant is SOMB-IDA-10 at 38 mm. Besides turning, the family requires thread turning (6 sizes from M4 to M12) and axial drilling (⌀2.5–8.5 mm). All of it is completed in a single setup, without the part leaving the machine.
The variant with the highest length-to-diameter ratio is SOMB-IDA-02: 22 mm long at ⌀8 mm, L/D 2.8. A short, rigid body: what governs the result here is not deflection but diameter tolerance and surface finish.
